Comfort Pies are Just Right
Busy days AND nights often make it difficult to serve a warm, nutritious, and tasty dinner, and that is when we need it most. There is shopping for ingredients, preparation, and baking time, the result being that all-too-often it just doesn't happen. I've been known to get all the ingredients, but run out of time complete the project. We settle for fast food, or a pizza delivered to the door, options that are not just costly in what we spend but at the expense of good nutrition and quality meal time together. When you and your family can walk through the...

Savor the Season
Sweet Summertime and we are enjoying fruits and vegetables at their peak flavors as markets are overflowing with the bounty of Summer. You'll see the many fruit pies we offer from peach to berry in many varieties. New to our collection is the Tomato Pie which captures that "just picked" flavor in a savory Parmesan crust. This makes a perfect light lunch or dinner and is also a nice accompaniment to grilled meat, chicken or seafood. If you have ingredients you'd like us to add (mushrooms, spinach, eggplant, olives, artichokes to name a few,) just let us know at the time...

Just Peachy
Saturday at sunset I took a drive across the river to Eckerts in Belleville, IL to pick up some "just picked." It was a beautiful evening and I forced myself to stay on task and not linger too long. We've had a good amount of rain so the fields of corn are lush and better yet the peach crop abundant. The warm breeze was delightful as I drove back, windows down, with the car full of peaches. An hour or two later the ovens were filled with peach pies, juicy peach pies. At least three times I spooned out the...

Enjoy Local
The mid summer is here. The chorus of cicadas fills the backyard, fireflies are loving the warm, humid nights, and be sure to savor the longest hours of daylight. Local peaches are here and that is a celebration in itself. We are taking full advantage of the bounty of Summer. A summer favorite is a slice of fresh peach pie. There are not a lot of ingredients used in our peach pies. As with all of our pies, we want you to enjoy all the flavor of the fruit so we keep it simple. This season you have a number...

Introducing Cafe Crust
I am a coffee person, drink it often, late at night(not a problem,) and prefer mine black. Like many, I enjoy a cup with my pie, and I do enjoy pie! The quest for a coffee pie to add to the menu began a while ago. Most coffee pies are based on super sweet liquor, wafer crusts, and are cream varieties. I wanted to offer pure coffee in a simple form without all the sugar, liquor, and heavy cream, thus the Cafe Crust was created. We incorporate fresh roasted Turkish ground(the finest) directly in our dough adding a bit of...
